About the Friendship Village Foundation

The Friendship Village Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of residents, community volunteers and members of the Friends of Faith Retirement Homes, Inc. board. Gifts of $1,000 or more are permanently recognized on one of the donor walls at Friendship Village.

Three funds were established for donors who wish to designate their gifts.

  • Benefactor Fund: Helping Village Neighbors

These gifts are used exclusively to help residents who, due to circumstances beyond their own control, are not able to meet their financial needs.

  • Achiever Fund: Completing Village Projects

Every Achiever Fund project solves an immediate problem. Staff, residents and family members help identify short-term projects that can become reality with adequate resources. Resident comfort, security, access, entertainment, health and communication have all benefited from the Achiever Fund support.

  • Builder Fund: Building a Better Village

Friendship Village prides itself in providing safe, comfortable and beautiful facilities with a full compliment of quality services. Senior living needs, market conditions and regulatory requirements change. Friendship Village must keep pace by anticipating and addressing those developing community needs.

  • Planned Giving Options

    • Qualified Charitable Contribution from an IRA. Gifts given directly from IRAs help meet Minimum Required Distributions in a tax-favored way (subject to IRS regulations). QCD checks should be payable to "Friendship Village."
    • Gifts from Donor Advised Funds can be used for Friendship Village Foundation Funds.
    • Appreciated Property: Stocks, bonds, a house, farmland, or any asset now worth more than when acquired
    • Wills: a frequent form of planned giving. Trusts: Many options exist to transfer income or assets for a meaningful contribution
    • Charitable Gift Annuity: Can provide a fixed income for the donor while providing tax benefits.
    • Life Insurance: Transferring an existing or purchasing a new policy creates a large gift from a small cash outlay

About the Friendship Village Auxiliary

The Friendship Village Auxiliary is tax-exempt under the umbrella of the Foundation’s 501(c)(3) status. The Auxiliary's purpose is to benefit Friendship Village Health Services. Countless hours of volunteer time and also many dollars to projects support Friendship Village health care. Hundreds of friends and neighbors participate through annual or lifetime memberships, as well as volunteerism and contributions.

Gifts to the Auxiliary are receipted to the donor and acknowledged to the family of the deceased or honored person. Since inception, the Auxiliary has given thousands of hours of volunteer service and more than $500,000. The most recent gift was the $75,000 underwriting of the Activities Room in the new Health Center.
